SANITY

At first, WFH didn’t seem too hard to fathom, as time went on that comfort in the preconceived notions I had about this new way of working was now turned on its head. The entire country was now on a mandated stay at home order for me that meant maintaining the day to day tasks of work with a 9 month old.

HER NEEDS couldn’t not conform to what I needed. I had to find ways to accommodate my child’s needs and wants while maintaining my efficiency in work. There was added pressure for me to make this work out of advocacy of the WFH policy. I wanted to show that working from home could be done effectively and efficiently not only for me but for all those who were for the policy in general. This was for them. With this mantra chucking me along, I began to feel the burnout. My focus to do everything as I had before was become my destruction

THE NEW WAY OF WORKING. I had to start a new process by debunking everything I knew about how I would effectively meet my deadlines under these new conditions. This process started with me first forgiving myself for having to make adjustments, this new way of working was new for EVERYONE. I was not alone tackling this new normal. Once I wrapped my head around this fact , I was able to openly vocalize my reality to my coworkers and guess what y’all !?! They UNDERSTOOD. I learned two major lessons during this whole ordeal, the first being never bite off more than you can chew and two ask for help. Life got easier and my initial views on WFH remain intact.
